American History Through The Civil War for 8th Grade

Our Origins
From ancient ideas of liberty to the American Civil War, students in this Classical Historian course follow a chronological journey through early American history. Each week features Socratic discussions, primary source readings, and engaging historical narratives that develop critical thinking and communication skills.

Course Objectives
Students learn to analyze events, evaluate evidence, and form well-supported conclusions—essential tools for understanding the past and becoming thoughtful citizens. The course includes a semester final and at least one formal presentation, delivered live via a secure Zoom session and stored in their private Canvas portal for review.
Medieval Civilizations for 7th Grade

Classical History
In this year-long Classical Historian course, students learn history in chronological order and historical thinking skills that teach independent thinking and expression, including the Socratic discussion. Pupils acquire historical content and engage classmates and the teacher in discussions based on open-ended questions in history.

Venture Forth!
This is the age of chivalry and competing worldviews. Knights and castles, crusaders and creators; your student will cover quite a bit of territory, including some of the major historical events in the years 400 to 1600 that took place worldwide in Africa, China, Europe, and the Americas!

Course Objectives
By following the Classical Historian series, students will learn how to do this process as an academic person. The Classical Historian series, coupled with the Socratic Method, will teach your student not only the essential facts of history but also how to analyze the events of the past and then be challenged with an open-ended question that will be discussed and debated during class time.

That curiosity drives this course. Each week, we’ll dive into geography using maps, videos, and discussions to learn how humanity continues to adapt and thrive across our amazing planet.
